Jean D. Schlaeger, age 71, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, December 16, 2011. Born on October 3, 1940, the daughter of George and Adeline Williams, Jean married Bill Romme on December 14, 1957, and together they had three children. After Bill's death in 1986, Jean was fortunate to find the second love of her life, Ron Schlaeger of Oshkosh, who she married on December 29, 1992.
Family and friends were the focal point in Jean's life as they meant everything to her. She enjoyed travelling, trips to Las Vegas, Florida, NASCAR races, Packer games, and even a local casino or two with her good friend Margie Stellmacher. She was the heart and soul of her family and she will be greatly missed. Jean was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.
Left to mourn Jean's passing is her husband, Ron Schlaeger; her father, George Williams; three children, Katharine (Barb Holbrook) Romme, Patricia (Scott) LeMay, and Steve Romme; three grandchildren, Richard (Kristin) LeMay, Emily (Adam) Stadtmueller, and Seth (Erin) Romme; one great-granddaughter, Savannah LeMay; a brother, Donald (Betty) Williams; a step-daughter, Roxanne (Keith) Barford; a step-son, Scott Schlaeger; three step-grandchildren, Adam, William, and Samantha; and many other extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in Peace Lutheran Church, 240 West 9th Ave., with Reverend Nancy Krueger officiating. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial for breast cancer research would be appreciated.
