Obituary

Jerry K. Sowers, Dad & Papa, age 56 of Oshkosh, died unexpectedly Friday, December 17, 2004 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. He was born April 9, 1948 in Stanford, Kentucky, the son of Lloyd and Velma Coleman Sowers. Jerry served in Vietnam from 1968-70. Jerry was a dedicated Dad and Papa. He was employed by School Stationers Corp. in Oshkosh. Jerry was a hardworking, kindhearted, jack of all trades who would help anyone. He was a perfectionist who could fix anything, enjoyed building computers, riding his motorcycle, refurbishing lawn tractors, woodworking and had the tools and ability to put anything back together again. Jerry literally would give you the shirt off his back and will be missed by all who knew him. No written words express what a wonderful and talented man he really was.

Jerry will be remembered as a special Dad by his children: Curt (Vickie) Sowers of Oshkosh, Chris (Kimberly) Sowers of Madison and Wendy Sowers of Oshkosh. He is also loved by his grandbabies; Caden Jerry & Madeline Carol; his mother: Velma, brothers and sisters: Joyce (David) O'Connell of Ripon, Charles (Mardell) Sowers of Oshkosh, William "Larry" (Linda) Sowers of Oshkosh, Rhonda (Dale) Schoenick of Hilbert and Amy (Todd) Karkula of Oshkosh. Jerry is further survived by his special friends; Barb & Aly Wilcox and Joan Jungwirth, not only the mother of his children, but his friend as well; numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 21st at the funeral home in Omro from 4-8 p.m. Private Funeral Service will be held. Burial will be at Bethesda Cemetery in the Town of Nekimi, WI.

A memorial in his name has been established.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day to laugh,
To love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void
then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Oh yes, these things I too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life has been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me
That God wanted me now.
