Jesse J. Fillmore Jr., age 94, of Oshkosh, died Tuesday morning, October 18, 2016, at Bethel Home. Born on January 6, 1922, in Fargo, North Dakota, the son of Jesse and Gertrude (Maxfield) Fillmore Sr., Jesse married Helen Patsy Sayler and she preceded him in death on July 9, 1996.
A proud U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, Jesses was employed as a Layout Artist for the Oshkosh Northwestern Newspaper until his retirement in 1988. He was a long-time member of Trinity Episcopal Church. A civic minded individual, Jesse was active in numerous organizations such as: Red Cross, Senior Friends, Adiocap, Board of Oshkosh Aging, Oshkosh Choir, and taught art at the Senior Center.
Survivors include two sons, James (Adrienne) Fillmore of Fond du Lac and Jeff (Denise) Fillmore of Belize; four grandchildren, Gretchen, Daniel, Matt, and Jennifer; and two special friends, Carol and Jerry Johnson of Oshkosh. Preceding Jesse in death are his wife, a daughter, Janelle, and 5 brothers.
