Obituary
Joan M. Kemp, 80, of Oshkosh died Monday, May 5, 2008 at Aurora Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1928 in Algoma, Wisconsin, daughter of John and Tilly Stade.
Joan married Glen J. Kemp Sr. November 22, 1947 at St. Mary Church in Algoma, Wisconsin. Last year, Glen, Joan, and their family celebrated Thanksgiving and their 60th wedding anniversary in Las Vegas. After her children were grown she helped manage her son's grocery store, Jeff's Save-More, in Omro, Wisconsin. Joan enjoyed many things in life, such as bingo, golf, and all of her grandchildren's athletic and musical endeavors. She took particular joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as pride in their successes and accomplishments. Joan was blessed to be able to live a very full and joyous life.
Joan is survived by her husband, Glen, their children, Jeff (Marie) Kemp of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Terese (Terry) Gerhardt of Hartsville, South Carolina, Ellen Kemp of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Julie (John) Ackerman of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and G. Joseph (Sue) Kemp Jr. of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; grandchildren Spencer Gerhardt of Los Angeles, California, and Teena (Matt Hedden) Gerhardt of Bloomington, Indiana, Anne, Joseph, and Alex Ackerman of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and Katie, Brian, and Amy Kemp of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Also, surviving Joan are her sisters, Margaret Schwedler of Algoma, Wisconsin, Susan (Dennis) Mitchell of Palentine, Illinois, and sister-in-law Madeline Kohlbeck of Algoma, Wisconsin, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, special neighbors, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Tilly Stade, brothers-in-law, Louis Schwedler, Richard Davis, and Louis Kohlbeck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, (St. Peter site, 435 High Ave.) with Reverend Joel Sember officiating. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the church. Please visit www.seefeldfuneral.com to send online condolences to the family.
