Joan B. Stiff, age 74, of Oshkosh, died on March 4, 2007 at her home. She was born on July 27, 1932 in North Fond du Lac to Peter and Erna (Schaefer) Bedessem. Joan married Norman "Stormin" Stiff on October 6, 1956 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Norman preceded Joan in death on July 13, 1999.
Joan was a member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church, where she served as a Communion Assistant at area nursing facilities. She was a member of Oshkosh Singles Group and enjoyed time reading, bowling, outings with family and friends, and especially shopping. Joan was a switchboard operator with Wisconsin Bell, later employed as a cashier for Sentry Foods, and was a sales clerk at Kline's Department Store.
Survivors include two daughters, Patti (Tony) Gillette of Wausau and Lori (Michael) Weiman of Chicago; two sons, Charles (Marguerite Overton) Stiff of Boise, Idaho and Tom (Kelly Myers) Stiff of Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Bentley Gillman, Mackenzie and Chase Weiman, and Keena Myers; two nieces, Trudy (Michael) Ford and Christine Tynan; and one nephew, Thomas (Mary) Tynan. Preceding Joan in death are her husband, parents, and a sister, Patricia Tynan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Josaphat Catholic Church, 1333 Walnut Street, with Reverend Robert Stegmann officiating. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac. A time of visitation and support will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the church.
