We Called Her 'Jodes'

Jodes' Battle is over
fought on many days
each, such a struggle
in so many ways.

And now that it's over
we can remember days
when Jodes filled our hearts
in oh so many ways.

Her life was a miracle
like each and every one
But the biggest miracle of all
was when she had a son.

It has too many victims
and leaves too many scars
only time can heal this
with some help from afar.

We watched her fight
we heard her cry
so many questions
and don't know why.

It's hard to think it's over
when you thought it just begun
but 29 years, some odd days
is still luckier than some.

So now her mission is over
and her journey on Earth is done.
Let's not forget our Jodes
or this cancer has won.

Love,
Dad 2/2/04
