John P. Dodd, age 77, of rural Omro, passed away Sunday evening, September 14, 2008 at the Omro Care Center. He was born in Oshkosh on November 24, 1930, the son of Harold and Ethel (Lewis) Dodd. He married Marion Clara Marie Brunck on March 21, 1953. John had a number of passions in his life. He loved farming and was very well known for the custom combining he did in the surrounding areas. John enjoyed the outdoors; vegetable gardening, tree trimming, bird watching and recycling metal.

John was loved and will be missed by his children, Mary Helm of Oshkosh, Nancy Nigbor of Oshkosh, Gerald (DeVita) Dodd of Oshkosh, Carol Dodd of Omro, Ronald (Jo Ann) Dodd of Eureka, Kenneth Dodd of Oshkosh, Sheila (William) Neitzel of Omro, 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn (John) Kasper of Oshkosh, Dorothy (Dennis) Ewald of Winneconne; brothers, George Dodd of Winneconne, Pat Dodd of Fisk, Tom Dodd of Fisk; sisters in law, Joyce Dodd and Linda Dodd; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion, on July 26, 2004; his son, Richard Dodd; parents, Ethel and Harold Dodd; sister and brother in law, Betty and Oscar Zarling; brothers, Art, Bill and Edward Dodd; and sister in law, Mary Dodd.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday,September 16, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Omro and then again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.
