John Henry Giddings, age 91, died Friday, December 25, 2009. He was born March 13, 1918 in the town of Poygan, the son of John and Geneva (McCabe) Giddings. John married Marilyn J. McElroy on September 5, 1964 at St. Thomas Church in Poygan with Jean and George Lee as attendants.
John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn J. Giddings; brother, Gene Giddings; nieces, nephews and their spouses, Donald and Cindy Giddings, Robert and Julie Giddings, David Giddings, Roger and Debra Giddings, John Giddings, and Katie Wipf. He is also survived by his very dear friends, Tod and Lana Nortman. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Vivian Giddings, Francis and Virginia Giddings; and niece, Connie Putzer.
John served in the South Pacific during WWII with the Red Arrow Division. After the end of the war he returned to Poygan and ran an ice cream parlor, service station and repair shop. There wasnÂ't anything he couldnÂ't fix. He also was caretaker for St. Thomas and Forest Hill Cemeteries for many years.
