Obituary

John F. Kinney, age, 84, passed away peacefully in his home on July 6, 2007. He was born in the Town of Poygan, on April 13, 1923, the son of William and Fern (Kellogg) Kinney. John was a life long resident of Poygan and was proud of his Irish heritage. As a boy, John attended Daisy School, the one room school house on the corner of Jacquis and Quigley Road. He took over the family farm and spent the rest of his life farming. Although he retired from dairy farming, he continued to plant and work his land.

John never had children of his own. He was a favorite Uncle and special friend to all his nieces and nephews and the "Kallas boys." John's door was always open and an extra place set at the table, making the farm a favorite refuge for family and friends. John had a large heart and always kept his family entertained with his short songs and silly limericks.

John is survived by his sister in law, Leona (Phillips) Kinney of Neenah and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Grinnell; brothers, William "Bill" Kinney, J. Robert "Bob" Kinney, and Joseph Kinney; brother in law, William "Bill" Grinnell and sister in law, Irene (Marks) Kinney.

Visitation will be held at the Omro Funeral Home on Sunday (TOMORROW) July 8, 2007, from Noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery in the Town of Poygan.

A special thank you to Greg Kallas, Lesli Malnory and Harry Kallas for fulfilling John's last wish "to stay in his home." Without their 24 hour love and care this would not have been possible. Also, thanks to Affinity Hospice Nurses, Astra and Ellen.
