John Ray Knapp, 86, died at Bethel Home on Thanksgiving day, November 24, 2022. He was born at home, in Oshkosh, WI on July 31, 1936 to Rolland and Ruth (Schultz) Knapp.

On October 10, 1970, he married Geraldine "Geri" Soderquist at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Oshkosh, WI. John proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961, and was a member of American Legion Post #234, Omro. John worked at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute for 34 years. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, bowling and playing cribbage.

John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Geri Knapp; sisters-in-law, Elaine (Robert) Kloiber, Stacie (Gregory) Spanbauer; and also sister, Carla M. Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Rolland Knapp Jr., William Knapp and Eugene (Susan) Knapp; and brother-in-law, Clem Johnson.

Services will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro, WI on Tuesday November 29, 2022. Visitation will be held from 9:30am to 11am, Mass will begin at 11am. Burial will be in Omro Cemetery.
