John M. Sherman, age 91, of Oshkosh, died Thursday afternoon, August 9, 2018, at Park View Health Center. He was born on June 28, 1927, in Oshkosh and married Betty Betts on July 29, 1950. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2012.
He was employed by the Oshkosh Telephone Company in the Building Maintenance Department prior to his retirement. John was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness and enjoyed time spent hunting, taking care of his cars, going out to eat, traveling with his wife, Betty, and the companionship of his faithful dog, Corky.
Survivors include his daughter, Sally Jean (Daniel) Richter of Oshkosh; his grandchildren, Tracy, Lori, Sara, Jeremy, and Megan; his great-grandchildren, Bristrol, Bailey, Ben, Jada, Kallie, Zachery, Zoe, and Briana; and his sister, Patricia Learman of Indiana. Preceding John in death is his wife, a son, Mark Sherman, and a grandson, Mike Richter.
Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. John will be laid to rest beside his wife, Betty, in Riverside Cemetery. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.seefeldfuneral.com.
