Obituary

Joyce Ruth (Smith) Doolittle passed away on February 18, 2025, at Webster Manor in Omro. She was born on October 31, 1940, in Plainfield, WI, to John and Ruth (Roberts) Smith. Joyce graduated from Tri-County High School in Plainfield, WI.

She had four children: Diana (Redemann) Applebee, Dale (Sheri) Applebee, Kevin (Valinda) Applebee and Shawn (Brenda) Doolittle. Additionally, she had three stepchildren: Paula (Doolittle) Rothe, Timothy Doolittle and Dawn (Carl) (Doolittle) Becker. She is also survived by her nephew, David (Donna) Smith; and niece, Kaye (Ken) Schmitz.

Joyce was blessed with many grandchildren, including Elizabeth Redemann, daughter of Diana Redemann; John Applebee, son of Kevin Applebee and Debra Brandofina; Ashley Applebee, daughter of Dale and Sheri Applebee; and Jacob and Leah Doolittle, children of Shawn and Brenda Doolittle. She also had step-grandchildren: Jason Mathe, Jennifer Mathe, and Jack Mathe, children of Valinda Applebee.

Joyce had a passion for calligraphy, crafting, drawing, and jewelry making. She took numerous art and craft classes and shared her love for creativity with her grandchildren, often making crafts with them. She enjoyed rummage sales and loved finding toys and little treasures for her grandchildren, always thinking of her family.

She also found great fulfillment in caring for disabled individuals at Taft House in Oshkosh, frequently giving them rides and taking them shopping.

In Joyce's own words, "I want to be remembered for being a quiet, smiley, loving person."

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth (Roberts) Smith, as well as her brother, Earl, and his wife, June Smith.

A special thank you to Angie and all the staff at Webster Manor in Omro for their exceptional care and kindness toward Joyce.

The family will be holding a private celebration of life in her honor.
