Obituary

Joyce Marie Nygaard, age 75 of Oshkosh, passed away Thursday morning, November 19, 2009 with her family at her bedside. Joyce was born on August 6, 1934 at home in Aniwa, to Roy and Dorothy (Meyer) Miller. On April 7, 1956 she married Stanley A. Nygaard in Manawa.

Joyce graduated from Iola High School and continued her education by attending Deaconess School of Nursing in Milwaukee. She later earned her Bachelor's Degree for Nursing. As a registered nurse, Joyce worked her entire career at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute. Joyce ended her career as the #1 Nursing supervisor in the State of Wisconsin. Joyce loved to attend all family functions to bring everyone together. She loved to watch sports like the Packers, Badgers and the Brewers. She also loved to decorate her house for every holiday and embraced the spirit of them all; Christmas was her favorite one of all. When she was more mobile, Joyce loved to attend yard sales to pick up anything that caught her eye. Joyce was a long time member of First English Lutheran Church where she loved to sing in the choir.

Survivors include: her daughter, Cheryl (Henry) Klemmer; sons, Michael (Jane) Nygaard and Eric (Tina) Nygaard; grandchildren: Kristin (Nick) Whitney, Sara (Jayson) Thiel, Trevor Klemmer, Melissa, Jeremy, Kaysen, Eryn, and Gunner Nygaard; and great-grandchildren: Alexandria Whitney, and Kloe and Jayden Thiel. She is also survived by siblings: Delores (Floyd) Roloff, Lana (Ev) Hansen and Larry (Robbie) Miller; sister-in-law, Martha Cook; special friends and neighbors Art and Lillian; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and her three kitties Cassie, Billy and Bailey. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and beloved kitties Garfield and Mittens.

A funeral service will be held for Joyce at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota Street, Oshkosh. A time for visiting and sharing support will be held at the church on Tuesday, from 8:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Royalton Cemetery in Royalton, Wisconsin. The family would like to express deep appreciation to ICU and dialysis staff at Mercy Medical Center for their compassionate care and diligent efforts to care for our mom during this trying time. A special thank you goes to Dr. Robert Weber and Dr. Michael Foley for the long hours spent with our mom and us during the last three days of her life.
