Judith Alma Gruszynske, age 64, of Omro, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born March 4, 1944, in Omro, WI, the daughter of Floyd and Alma (Duwe) Whitemarsh. Judie attended Omro Junction Grade School, Omro High School and graduated from University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh with a degree in teaching. Judie had taught Physical Education in Plymouth, WI for 10 years. She married Thomas Gruszynske on April 15, 1972.
Judie was a fun loving person who had many passions in life. In her earlier years, she took great pride in showing horses. She had a special fondness for all kinds of animals. Judie was a voracious reader. She enjoyed bowling and the camaraderie of her fellow teammates. Judie was always up for a good rummage sale, looking for bargains and very much loved holiday decorating. Family and friends will always remember her Christmas cookies and caramels. She was a member and active in 4-H, the West Homemakers Club for 30 years and the Winnebago HCE, of which she was President. Judie was the organizational Leader of Zion 3-C 4-H Club for 31 years, serving in various roles during that time, such as, 4-H executive board as pizza fundraiser chairperson, breakfast at the fair chairperson and assistant superintendent at the Winnebago County Fair.
Judie is survived by her husband, Thomas Gruszynske of Omro; children, Julie Gruszynske of Austin, Texas and Timothy (Kathleen) Koring-Gruszynske of Sacramento, California; brother, Harley (Josephine) Whitemarsh of Grafton, WI; step mother, Mary Whitemarsh; nephew, Douglas (Theresa) Whitemarsh and their children, Emily, Joshua and Claire; niece, Amy Fortney-Brown (Steve Brown) and their children, Tyler and Rachel; other relatives and many near and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Alma Whitemarsh; and mother and father in law, Dorothy Gruszynke and Milton "Jake" Gruszynske.
In respect to JudieÂ's memory, the family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, March 24, 2008, at the Omro Funeral Home from 4-8 P.M. and then again on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Peace Lutheran Church, 240 W. 9th Ave, Oshkosh, from 9 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial in JudieÂ's name is being established.
