Judith M. Luft, age 66, of Omro, was called to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday morning, August 31, 2010, at Bethel Home in Oshkosh, following a year long battle with brain cancer. Judi was born March 30, 1944 in Oshkosh, the daughter of George and Shirley (Ott) Stahl. She grew up in the Omro area and was a 1962 graduate of Omro High School. Judi worked for a number of years as a directory assistance operator at WI Bell Telephone Company in Oshkosh, retiring at the age of 50. She then owned and operated Lufter's Pizza on Main St. in Omro for 10 years and then owned and operated J. L. Trucking in Omro. Judi had many passions in life. She enjoyed helping people, especially the elderly. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed shopping, scrap booking, gardening, cooking, and traveling with her children and cousins. Family was very important to Judi. One of the best parts of family for her was being a grandmother. She absolutely adored and loved all her grandchildren. Judi was an active board member of the Sand Pit Fishing Club and St. Mary Catholic Church. Judi is best known in Omro for her smile, her laughter and her stories.
Judi is loved and will be missed by her mother, Shirley Stahl; children, Jody (David) Luft-Grond of Omro, Jamie Luft of Oshkosh and Jon (Lisa) Luft of Chicago; and their father, Jim Luft of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Hardy, Heather, Michael, Niki and Alexa; great granddaughter, Audrey; sister, Karen (Jerry) Fenner of North Dakota; brother, Jeff (Linda) Stahl of Georgia; nephew, Jason (Shelle) Feldner of North Dakota; dear friend and cousin, Suzi Fink-Hammes; special friend, Steve Lenz; other relatives, many near and dear friends and her cat, Sarah. She was preceded in death by her father, George Stahl and infant sister, Carol Ann.
In respect to Judi's memory, the family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, September 3, 2010, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave, Omro, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and then again on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.
