Obituary

Katherine "Pearl" Loker age 88, of Eureka passed away early Monday morning June 16, 2003 at Parkview Health Center-Pleasant Acres in the town of Oshkosh. She was born June 4, 1915 on a farm near Berlin, the daughter of Fred and Catherine Beck. Growing up, Pearl helped with the farming chores on the farm she was born on as well as a few other farms that her family lived on in the area. As a young adult Pearl moved to Ripon and graduated from Ripon High School in 1934. She then completed her teachers training at what was then called Oshkosh Normal. When living in Ripon, Pearl worked for a short period of time at a restaurant owned by Bess Calkins. She later worked at the Ripon Egg Plant and then at Ripon Good Cookie Factory until her marriage to Ward Loker on April 17, 1946. For the next 40 years, Pearl and her husband operated a 100 acre farm on Highway K outside of Eureka, Wisconsin. Pearl enjoyed spending her free time crocheting, tatting, cooking, reading, baking (bread and rolls were her specialty) and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She loved animals and always had many farm pets residing with them on the farm. Pearl was a member of the Eureka United Methodist Church and was especially active in the Ladies Aid Group up until the time of her illness and also belonged to the Homemakers Club "County Line"

Pearl is lovingly survived by her husband Ward, one son; DuWayne (Linda) Loker of Oshkosh, two grandchildren; Jason of Oshkosh and Megan (Dennis) McClellan of Seattle, WA.; two sisters; Jeanette (Larry) Kubasta of Omro and Kathleen (Harold) Hoth of Ripon, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, her sister; Lorna Albright, brothers; Lawrence and Thomas Beck and sister in law; Iona Loker.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at the Omro Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. with Rev. Donald Olm officiating. Burial will be in the Omro Cemetery. A memorial has been established.

God saw she was getting tired
and a cure was not to be,
So He put his arms around her
and whispered "Come to me."
With tearful eyes we watched her
suffer and saw her fade away.
Although we loved her dearly, we
could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove
to us He only takes the best.
