Katherine E. "Katie" Thompson, age 77, of Oshkosh, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009 at Aurora Medical Center. Our loving, caring, angel of mercy has gone to be with her beloved. Born on July 26, 1931 in Waukau, Wisconsin to Joseph and Lucy (Washburn) Schuster, Katherine married Thomas E. "Gunny" Thompson on October 8, 1955 in Berlin, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1996.
A graduate of Omro High School Class of 1949, Katherine attended and graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in 1952. She was a Registered Nurse for 45 years, working throughout the United States, before retiring in 1997.
Left to mourn her passing is two sons, Robert (Donna) Thompson and Mark (Donna) Thompson, both of Oshkosh; eight special grandchildren, Sadona, Randy, Wyatt, Jerrid, Tyler, Katie, Amanda, and Timmy; two brothers, Larry (Judy) Schuster and Don (Betty) Schuster, both of Omro; and other relatives and friends. Preceding Katherine in death are her beloved husband, Thomas, her parents, and two brothers, Francis and Robert Schuster.
A service to celebrate Katherine's life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Lake View Memorial Park Chapel, 2786 Algoma Blvd., with Reverend William Van DeKreeke officiating. Interment will follow on the cemetery grounds. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held at the chapel on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until service time.
