Kathryn grew up on Bowen Street just a few doors north of Parkway on the east side of Oshkosh. Along with her two sisters and five brothers she attended St. Mary's School and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1934. Her first job was at Neubergers on South Main Street in Oshkosh.
All of the Duex children participated in sports and Kathryn was no exception. She played tennis and softball and also enjoyed bowling. In 1935 she met Wilbert Koch, and three years later they were married on November 26, 1938, at St. Mary's Church in Oshkosh. They began their married life on the east side of Oshkosh. "Wilbo" was a star baseball and softball player in the 1930s and 40s and she enjoyed going to all the games. In 1947, they moved to Reighmoor on the south shore of Lake Butte des Morts.

In later years, she and Wilbo had a catfish set line on Lake Butte des Morts and they never missed a day checking their lines no matter how bad the weather. They also enjoyed going to Las Vegas and the casinos in Wisconsin and Michigan as well.
On February 20, 1992, Wilbert passed away and she remained at Reighmoor until moving to Marion Manor in 2001. At the age of 82, along with her sister, Margaret, she went to Europe and saw Pope John Paul II, at the Vatican. In 2007, she moved to Parkview Health Center and while there enjoyed playing bingo and cards with friends.
