Obituary

Kathy Ann Romero "Duffy" age 77, went to Heaven's Garden on the morning of June 9, 2023 with her husband by her side, after a long fight with cancer. Kathy was born March 21, 1946, to the late Beryl and Kenneth Nichols in Waupaca, Wisconsin. She graduated from Waupaca High school and went on to work 22 years at King Industries and 15 years at Sharpf's Embroidery in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

On February 24, 1979, Kathy married the love of her life, Jim Romero and celebrated 44 years together.
Kathy had many special talents, one being her expressions of beautiful cross-stitch gifts she shared with family and friends. Her love of wolves- that decorated their home, along with her very green thumb that extended lovely house plants and flower beds in their yard. Feather friends (birds) graced their yard as many feeders hung. Additional things she enjoyed included playing cards, puzzles, going to the casino and spending time with family.
In retirement Kathy and Jim spent several years in the summer camping at Wilderness Campground, where they formed many friendships, along with trips with friends Steve and Annie to other states.

Survivors include her husband, Jim "Mex" Romero of Waukau; special niece Lisa Van Cuyk of Kimberly; great-nephew Jacob Van Cuyk of Kimberly; cousins; sister-in-law Lynn Nichols of Kimberly; brothers-in-law Joe Romero of California, Eddie Romero of California; step-children, Angie "Dinger" and Gary Jr. "Hos," of California; many special grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special friends Helen, Cathy, and Steve and Annie Koss and many others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Nichols, aunt, Donna Haima; uncle, Wally Haima; and step-daughter, Melissa.

Kathy will be dearly missed and always remembered for her caring of others. The family would like to thank the hospice nurses for all their help, especially April.

Visitation gathering for a celebration of life will be held at the Kwiatkowski Funeral Home, 425 Jefferson Avenue, Omro, Wisconsin, on Thursday June 22, 2023, from 4:00pm until 6:00pm.
