Obituary

Kenneth John Gerike was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 25, 1949 to Ernest and Vera (Roschke) Gerike. He was united in holy marriage to Darlene Doris Dobberstein on June 10, 1973 and blessed with 33 years of life together. God also blessed them with four children: Kristin Gerike of Columbia; Matthew Gerike of Williamsburg, Virginia; Rachel Breeden of Jefferson City; and Andrew Gerike of Omaha, Nebraska. Darlene preceded Ken in death on March 26, 2007.
Ken served as an ordained minister of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod for 42 years with pastorates in Kendallville, Indiana and Columbia, Missouri. He also served his church on circuit and district levels. He served his community through many years of involvement with Kiwanis, support of the Columbia Handbell Ensemble, and cheering on the Missouri Women's Basketball team.
On January 28, at the age of 68 years, God blessed Ken with a holy death and he fell asleep in Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead. He is survived by his children; grandchildren, Corey Burton, Christopher Breeden, Elijah, Anastasia, Cecilia, and Michael Gerike; son-in-law Rob Breeden; daughter-in-law Shayla Gerike; sister Mary Ann Richard; brother James (Gail) Gerike; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Funeral service in Omro, Wisconsin will be at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Avenue, on Tuesday, February 6 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be the two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Omro Cemetery.
