Obituary

Laurie E. Mugerauer, age 75, of Eagle River and formerly of Oshkosh, passed away at his home Sunday afternoon, August 19, 2018, in Eagle River. Born on September 14, 1942, in Oshkosh, the son of the late Herbert and Florence (Frank) Mugerauer, Laurie married Arlene Londowski on February 24, 1996, and she precedes him in death. Employed for over 30 years at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac, Laurie was a foreman prior to his retirement. Laurie served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1963. Laurie was a wonderful father to his sons, always involved in what they loved including serving as a coach, as a Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader and making sure his home was open to all of their friends. The boys remember him always making an ice rink in the backyard and working hard on painting and creating their pinewood derby cars. In addition to being an avid dartball player, Laurie played softball for many years and was inducted into the Oshkosh Softball Hall of Fame. After retirement, some of his greatest joys were walking in the Northwoods by his home, playing the nickel slots at the casino and big dreams of lottery wins that he would share with his family.
Survivors include his three sons, Lawrence (Tamara) Mugerauer of Oshkosh, Andrew (Jamie) Mugerauer of Oshkosh, Jason (Kristie) Mugerauer of Wautoma, and their mother, Judy Mugerauer of Oshkosh; a step-daughter, Georgia Wacholtz of Ripon; grandchildren, Jason II, Avery, Liberty, Izzianna, Marjorie, and Archer; his siblings, Steve (Judy) Mugerauer of Omro, Michael (Nancy) Mugerauer of Oshkosh, Sharon Mugerauer of Oshkosh, Herbert (Penny) Mugerauer of Oshkosh; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Laurie is also preceded in death by his wife, Diane Mugerauer and their daughter, Diane Mugerauer.
