Obituary

Lawrence Francis Retzack, age 80, of Middleton Wisconsin, passed away October 13, 2021, in his home from natural causes. Lawrence "Larry" was born on December 6, 1940 in Plover Wisconsin, the son of the late Harvey and Grace (Brooks) Retzack. He attended Omro Public Schools, earned a bachelor's degree from U.W.-Eau Claire and earned a master's degree from Northwestern University. He was married to his wife, Yasuko Retzack for more than 40 years before separating. Lawrence was an accomplished musician, a lover of classical music, taught music and played more than a dozen instruments his primary instrument being trombone. He was also an avid sports fan with a strong interest in tennis, golf, skiing, and sailing. He traveled around the world for business and pleasure, spent over 30 years in Japan as a music teacher and later the librarian and media specialist for DoDDS (Department of Defense Dependents Schools) working at the elementary school located on the US Army base in Tokyo Japan. He was actively involved in music, playing in multiple orchestras and chamber music groups, and was also an avid reader and published writer.

Larry is survived by his former wife, Yasuko Retzack of Torrance California; son, Ken (Jerry) Retzack; granddaughters: Charlie and Zoey; brothers: Russell (Marion) Retzack and Harvey (Joan) Retzack Jr.; and sister, Viola (Wayne) Schmick. He was preceded in death by his parents, and eldest sister, Carol.

A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Kwiatkowski Funeral Home.
