Lena R. Kussrow, age 92 of Omro, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010, at Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mt. Calvary. Lena was born on August 7, 1917, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Joseph & Anna (Winkel) Williams. She married Herbert G. "Tiny" Kussrow on August 30, 1941. Lena was a hard worker; she was a cook at Herricks-Swartz, then at Bell Telephone in Oshkosh for over 21 years, and at Omro Care Center. Even after retiring, she continued to volunteer at Omro Care Center. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
She is survived by in-laws, nieces and nephews; and those who cared for Lena in her later years, Dr. Tom & Carla Dowling, William & Susan Casper and Shirley Housh of Oceanside, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert "Tiny"; her parents; and sisters, Esther Struck and Amelia Eldin; and brother, Fred.
In respect to Lena's memory, family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, from 12 Noon until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. James Cieszynski officiating. Lena will be laid to rest in the Omro Cemetery. Special thanks to Villa Loretto Nursing Home staff for their dedicated and loving care of Lena during the last years of her life.
