Leo A. Kopplin, age 77 of Oshkosh, died unexpectedly at Mercy Medical Center on Tuesday, May 16, 2006. He was born in Green Lake on October 17, 1928 to Emil and Lanora (Parpart) Kopplin. His mother died when he was young and his stepmother Ethel raised him.
Leo was a sports fan; he loved the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and the Bucks. He enjoyed his grandchildren, and had a very memorable sense of humor. Leo served in the United States Marine Corp during Korea. He attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering, worked as a Yard foreman for Ben B. Ganther Construction for 15 years, then at Oshkosh Truck from 1972 until retirement in 1990. Retirement did not conclude Leo's working life. He will be dearly missed and not forgotten: as a Father, as a friend, as Grandpa, or Whatchamacallit.
His memory will live on through his sons: Mark (Mary) Kopplin of Butte des Morts and Cary (Susan) Kopplin of Oshkosh; grandchildren: Cody, Austin, Dylan, Mark, Jessica, Jeffery, Brittany, and Michael; great-grandchildren: Mikayla, Dominic, and Ty; step-grandchildren: Joseph, Jessica, Jeremy, and Justin. His brother: William (Dale) Kopplin and sister-in-laws: Rosie Kopplin and Genevieve Kopplin further survive him. Five brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation and support at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
