Leonard O. Schultz, age 84, of Omro, took his last road trip to be reunited with the girl of his dreams on Wednesday, January 28, 2016. He was born in Washburn, Clark County, WI on February 20, 1931, the son of Hallie and Ruth (Rodman) Schultz. Leonard married Beverly J. Tyler on April 28, 1951 in Granton, WI. She preceded him in death on June 28, 2015. He had worked for over 30 years as an over the road truck driver and later was an instructor at Fox Valley Technical College teaching defensive decision driving. Leonard was a former member and is now an honorary member of the Omro Rushford Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed fishing and going up to the family cabin. But what Leonard enjoyed most came after retirement when he was able to go on the road again with his girl, Beverly. Together they traveled coast to coast so Bev could visit all those places Leonard had driven thru in his big hauler alone. Those memories brought comfort and laughter to Leonard after Bev's passing.Leonard is dearly loved and will be missed by his children, Linda (Tom) Hess of Omro, Kathy (Tom) Sontag of Omro, Deb Schultz of Omro and John (Sandy) Schultz of Neenah. He loved all his grandchildren, Zach, Jessica, Chris, Jenny, Byron, Jonathon, and Travis whom he considered more like a son; great grandchildren, Brayden, Tyler, Wyatt, Joslyn, Maverick, Layla; brother in law, Roger (Lucille) Tyler of Granton, WI, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and his good neighbors at River Hills Apts. In Omro. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beverly and son, Jim.Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016, at Grace Lutheran Church, 730 Jackson Ave., Omro from 9:00 a.m. until the time of his memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Leonard will be laid to rest next to his wife on the family plot at Omro Cemetery. A memorial in his name is being established for Grace Lutheran Church.The family would like to thank the staffs of Eden Meadows and Heartland Hospice for their kindness and gentle care given to Leonard and the rest of his family.
