Obituary

Lewis W. "Lew" Reitz, age 75, of Oshkosh, died peacefully in his sleep at his residence on December 7, 2006. He was born to Julius and Jessie (Fisher) Reitz on October 17, 1931 in the Township of Omro. Lewis married Gladys Mollen on May 11, 1960 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin.


Lewis was a man of the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and doing yard work. Traveling was one of his pleasures. Lewis liked woodworking and made very attractive lawn decorations, many of which enhanced the yards of Oshkosh and surrounding area neighborhoods. He worked for the Winnebago County Highway Department until his retirement in 1994. Lewis enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. His granddaughters were very special to him.


Surviving Lewis is his wife of 46 years, Gladys, of Oshkosh, his daughters, Jeanette Reitz, of Oshkosh and JoAnn (Patrick) Kielkucki of Omro, and two granddaughters, Grace and Greta Kielkucki. Further surviving Lewis is one sister, Ruth (Merlin) Wegner of Oshkosh, two brothers-in-law Glenn (Kathy) Mollen of Pickeral, Wisconsin, and Howard (Delores) Mollen of Antigo, Wisconsin. One niece, one nephew and other relatives and friends also survive Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Marion Reitz.


Funeral services will be on Monday, December 11, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the Eagle Street Chapel, 300 N. Eagle Street. Father William Van DeKreeke will be officiating. Friends may gather for a time of support at 12:00 noon until the time of service. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park.
