Lillian A. Stenerson, age 86, of Oshkosh, and formerly of Iola, died Thursday evening, September 14, 2006 at Evergreen Retirement Community. She was born on May 28, 1920 to Herman and Lila (Potter) Thompson. Lillian married Milton Stenerson on January 6, 1942 and he preceded her in death on August 8, 1991.
Lillian was a graduate of Wautoma High School and the Oshkosh Teacher's College. She taught in Wautoma and later at St. Vincent School in Oshkosh. Lillian was also employed by Bethel Home in the Dietary Department as a cook. She was a former member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola and a current member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Other memberships include the Mary Circle, Quilters Guild, and the Carmel Bible Study Group. Lillian was well known for her knitted baby sweaters for church missions. Personal interests included reading, especially her bible, rosemaling, and playing the organ for enjoyment.
Survivors include three sons, Robert (Jane E.) Stenerson, Lawrence (Mary) Stenerson, and Jon (Jane M.) Stenerson, all of Oshkosh; one daughter, Karen Tassara (Gianfranco Tassara) of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren, Eric Stenerson, Kurt Stenerson, Marcel Tassara, Gino Tassara, Scott (Fiancee- Shari) Stenerson, Pamela Stenerson, Nicole Roberts, Jeffrey Stenerson; six great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Nicholas, Evan, Sydney, Justin, and Ashlee; one brother, Stanley (Eleanor) Thompson of Janesville; and one sister, Rosalie Dahlen of Wautoma.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1860 Wisconsin Street, with Reverend Kemp Jones officiating. Interment will take place in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in Iola at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. A time of visitation and support will be held on Tuesday form 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials are requested to Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lillian's memory. Lillian's family wishes to thank the staff at Evergreen Retirement Community Creekview South for their gentle care and kindness shown to their mother.
