Lillie M. Ziemer, age 78, of Oshkosh, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family and dear friends on Friday, May 30, 2008. She was born in Beaver Dam on August 30, 1929 to Lyle and Evelyn (Golliher) Holland. She married Eugene "Zip" Ziemer in Oshkosh on April 21, 1956. Lillie was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the United Methodist Women's Martha Circle and the Quilter's Group, with whom she enjoyed Thursday "stitch and chatter" and looked forward to their field trips. She enjoyed the weekly craft days at church, working at their annual Bazaar, and was the chairman of the Funeral Celebration Committee for almost 40 years, until just months ago, when it became too much for her. Lillie enjoyed watching birds, reading, gardening, the chance to go to lunch with friends or family at her favorite Pizza Hut, and mostly spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Lillie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband, Eugene, two daughters, Mary (David) Paull of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, and Linda Kelly of Oshkosh; five grandchildren, Kyle, Kelly, and Trevor Paull all of Brown Deer, Megan and Kristen Kelly, both of Oshkosh; one brother, Jim (Mary) Holland of Oshkosh, two sisters-in-law, Nancy Holland of Oshkosh and Pat (George) Sasse of Winneconne; two brothers-in-law, Don (Ann) Ziemer of Somis, California and Larry (Linda) Ziemer of Oakfield, Wisconsin; nieces, nephews, dear cousins, and many close friends. Preceding Lillie in death are her parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Tom Holland.
Funeral services for Lillie will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in First United Methodist Church, 700 W. Linwood Ave., with Reverend Steve Kaehr officiating. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church. Entombment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. Memorials honoring Lillie's memory may be given to First United Methodist Church or Ministry Home Health Care Hospice. The family would like to thank Affinity's Ministry Home Hospice for their care and support during Lillie's last few weeks.
"We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you: you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again."
