Linda M. Savides, age 43 passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 due to a fire at the home she loved on Mission Lake in rural Gresham. She was born May 22, 1963 and was the daughter of Philip and Elizabeth Savides of Oshkosh. Linda grew up in Oshkosh and was a graduate of Oshkosh West High School and the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. After receiving her bachelor's degree in Social Work, Linda spent most of her adult life living in the Gresham, Shawano and Clintonville areas. Over the years, she worked as a social worker at a number of area retirement home facilities.

Linda shared her life and her home with her best friend and companion Steve Huhn. Together they spent countless hours fishing on Mission Lake behind their home. Linda was an active and enthusiastic member of the quilt guild at Zion Lutheran Church of Tigerton. She loved quilting, cooking, sewing, gardening and crafts, activities learned from her mother. Linda always looked forward to matching croquet skills and strategy with her father in croquet games which seemed to occur at any family gathering.

In addition to Steve, Linda is survived by her parents, brother: Mark (Jane) Savides of Appleton; nephews: David and Michael Savides of Appleton; niece: Nicole Savides of Appleton; Steve's mother, Mary Huhn of Neenah; and Steve's sister: Cindy (John) Rothwell of Appleton. She is further survived by numerous aunts and uncles including: Ginny Savides of Morton, Illinois; Helen (Earl) Brown of Tampa, Florida; Rev. Jim (Katie) Savides of Eau Claire; Lilah Sprecher, Lyle Sprecher, and Halsey (LyIa) Sprecher of Prairie du Sac; Vilas (Nancy) Sprecher of North Freedom; Marion (Ed) Yngsdal of Fond du Lac; Ruby (Neil) Alwin of Dane; and Keith Sprecher of Madison. Other survivors include many cousins and good friends, including her birth mother, Irene Ransom of Grafton. Perishing with Linda in the fire was her beloved dog: Buddy and cats: Lucky and Morris. Linda was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Rev. Youvan and Ethel Savides; her maternal grandparents: Elias and Ellen Sprecher; and several aunts and uncles.

A memorial service for Linda will be held in Oshkosh at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 North Eagle Street, Rev. Jennifer Czarnota of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation and support on Saturday at the funeral chapel from 10:30 A.M until the time of the service. A memorial is being established.
