Obituary

Lois J. Hoeft, 96 of Omro passed away in her home on June 7, 2024. She was lovingly cared for by her family and the compassionate team of hospice nurses from Aurora Health Care.

She was born in Oshkosh on November 20, 1927 to John and Ella Lautenschlager, the eldest of four daughters. She met Edward Hoeft at a carnival when she was just a teenager, who stole her heart and became the love of her life. They married shortly upon Edward's return from the Army Air Corps of World War II on December 7, 1947. Together they had three sons, Terry, Rick and Curt.

After graduating from Oshkosh High School, Lois was employed at Stannard Colemans and later at the bank in Omro. She worked there for many years achieving the position of head teller.

Lois loved to play tennis, cross-county ski, and figure skate. She aspired to skate like the famous Olympian, Sonja Henie. She continued to skate with her grandchildren on their backyard pond. Lois had a passion for music, often singing and dancing around the house and at the Eagles Club. She was also fond of playing cards, boating, fishing, and relaxing at their cabin in Waushara County. Lois was an avid traveler taking many memorable trips with Eddie, family and friends.

Eddie and Lois built their dream home over 50 years ago. She took great pride in her home, yard, and gardening winning local awards for landscaping. They planted and maintained a 200-tree apple orchard. Her delicious apple slices and cider are fondly remembered. Throughout her life, she enjoyed mowing her lawn and watching the deer, turkey, and other wildlife roam her yard and around her pond.

Lois was a doting grandmother, attending sporting events and school activities. She was known to always have her "grandma bag" full of candy and gum in her purse.

Lois is survived by her son, Terry (Phyllis Campbell); her grandchildren, Kelly Hoeft, Tyson Hoeft, Carey Hoeft, Whitney Hoeft and Casey Hoeft; daughters-in-law, Jo Raimann-Hoeft and Mary Hoeft. She is further survived by her sister, Ione Harrand and five great-grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Edward Hoeft; sons, Rick Hoeft and Curt Hoeft; grandson, Ryan Hoeft; and sisters, Phyllis Jungwirth and Betty Dean.
