Lois E. Klusmeyer, age 85 of Oshkosh, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Evergreen Retirement Community. She was born July 9, 1926 the daughter of Harold and Nellie (Gardner) Klusmeyer in Evansville, Wisconsin. After graduating from high school Lois attended Stout Institute in Menomonie, Wisconsin where she received her bachelor's degree in Home Economics Education in 1947. She then went on the obtain her master's degree in Home Economics Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1967.
After obtaining her college education Lois taught home economics at Oconto High School from 1947 to 1950. She then went to work for Winnebago County as an Extension Home Economist from October 1, 1950 to August 31, 1966. Next she worked for Brown County as an Extension Home Economist from June 15, 1967 to September 30, 1981. After Lois retired from working she was granted emeritus status from UW-Extension/UW-Madison.
Lois enjoyed traveling and was a member of Altrusa International in Oshkosh. She belonged to the Friends of the Oshkosh Public Library and was active in Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church where she was a member. During her working years she was a member of the National Association of Extension Home Economists, the Wisconsin Association of Extension Home Economists, the American Home Economics Association and the Wisconsin Home Economics Association Epsilon Sigma Phi.
Funeral service for Lois will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2011 at Ward Funeral Home, 130 S. 5th Street, Evansville, Wisconsin 53536. The family will greet friends at the Ward Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Evansville.
