Lois Arlene Williams, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at the Garland Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Hot Springs, Arkansas where she had resided for four months. She was born September 10, 1917 in the Town of Nekimi, WI daughter of Gilbert and Esther Jones. She married W. Gomer (Ike) Williams on June 3, 1941 in the Town of Nekimi and was preceded in death by him on December 30, 1987. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Dale, Jess, Warren and Lyle and one sister Alice May (Oddy) Lloyd.
She is survived by her son Jay Waldo Williams (Karen), Hot Springs Village, AR, three grandchildren David R. Williams (Deanna), Milwaukee, WI, Jody J. Haley (Gary), Hot Springs Village, AR, Jeffrey S. Williams (Diane), Cary, NC; and six great-grandchildren Tyler, Erin, and Brett Haley of Hot Springs Village, Ross and Josh Williams of Cary NC, and Jason Wnuk of Milwaukee, WI.
She was an active member of Wesley Methodist Church, Oshkosh for over 60 years and a member of the Druid Society. In her younger years she was a clerk at Woolworth's Dime Store and also worked with her brother Jess making frozen pizzas for Jess and Nicks' Pizza. She loved to do hand work including knitting and crocheting but her real love was painting. She took lessons for years and was always looking for some new challenge. She painted many primitive scenes for her family and also loved folk art painting as well as rosemaling. She and Ike bought a cottage on Lake Winnebago in 1949 and spent many happy years remodeling, decorating and enjoying their lake view. After her husband passed away in 1987 she and her beloved sister Oddy Lloyd lived together in an apartment in Oshkosh. After Oddy died in 1998, she moved to Carmel where she lived until January 2005 when she moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas to be closer to her family.
Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be at the SEEFELD FAMILY OF FUNERAL CHAPLES, 300 N. Eagle Street, Oshkosh WI at 2:00PM on November 4, 2006, with the Reverend Jean Schmidt officiating. Friends may call from 11:00A.M. until the time of service. Internment will take place at Bethesda Cemetery in Ring. A memorial fund is being established for the Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Ring and the Wesley Methodist Church in Oshkosh.
