With great sadness, we announce the death of our beloved mother and grandmother, Loraine Elizabeth Negendank of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Loraine passed away on March 10, 2024, at the age of 94.
Loraine is survived by three children, Sue Taraska of Brookfield, WI, Patti (John) McCool, Spooner, WI and Scott (Sandra) Negendank, Oshkosh, WI; two grandchildren, Amy (Dr. Matthew) Ewy of Cross Plains, WI and Kelly (Nicholaus) Martin of Anoka, MN; two great-grandchildren; Tyler and Bennett Ewy. She is further survived by her brother, Richard Spink of Ingleside, Texas; and many nephews and a niece.
Loraine was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Colonel Donald Negendank; parents, Richard and Lillian Spink; sister, Eleanor Tyriver; and son-in-law, Thomas Taraska.
Loraine was the oldest of three children born on September 26, 1929, to Lillian and Richard Spink. After graduating from Oshkosh High School in 1947 she went onto Oshkosh Teachers College, where she graduated in 1951 with a degree in elementary education. It was there she met the love of her life and best friend, Donald Negendank. On August 21, 1953, she married Lt. Donald Negendank and became a proud Air Force wife. They were fortunate to spend 50 wonderful years together. Loraine taught elementary aged students in Wisconsin, California, and Virginia.
In high school and college, she sang in the Acapella choirs. Lorraine was a member of Fireside Antique Club, Oshkosh Woman's Club, PEO AG, and Living in Retirement. Her hobbies included playing bridge, listening to music, reading, playing golf and tennis when able, knitting afghan blankets, and traveling. She was a caregiver for her husband who had Parkinson's Disease for 27 years. Loraine was active in her 3 children's activities. She was Den mother, Girl Scout leader, and Sunday School teacher.
Loraine was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
Loraine will be dearly missed by family and friends and will always be remembered in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 1100 E. Murdock Ave., Oshkosh, WI 54901 on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
