Lovella June Griffin Wallace, age 85, of Oshkosh, was born on June 14, 1924 in Waterville, Ohio to Frank Leonard and Eva Florence (Frazier) Griffin. She was the youngest of eight children. On April 26, 1944, Lovella married Irving Holt Wallace and he preceded her in death on December 15, 1990.
Known as Lou to her friends and as "Toots" to Irv, Lovella graduated from Waterville High School in 1942 and attended Business College in Toledo, Ohio. Lou and Irv made their home and raised their family, moving from Ohio to Minnesota, to Pennsylvania, to Illinois, and settling in Oshkosh in 1962. They became members of Christ Lutheran Church, where Lou was a women's circle member. An active community member, Lou was also a member of Oshkosh Newcomer's Club.
Employed by Bethel Home in the food service department, Lou was a faithful employee for many years. In addition to her family, other interest included teaching Bethel Bible Series, cooking, sewing, knitting, flower gardening, and supporting various charitable causes in the community.
Surviving and mourning Lou's death is a son, Peter (Mary) Wallace of Cambridge, Wisconsin; two daughters, Anna (Herman) Holloway, of Fort Valley, Georgia, and Nancy Harrmann of Frazee, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Aaron and Alexander Holloway, Kjirsti Harrmann, Libby Kanyuh, Carl W. Harrmann, Emily Rademacher, and Allison Wallace; three great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Charlotte, and Audrey; and a brother, George Griffin. Preceding Lou in death are her husband, parents, two brothers, Richard and Franklin; and four sisters, Clarice, Ruby, Gladys, and Lodema.
A funeral service to honor and remember Lou's life will be held on August 8, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Church Ave., with Reverend Eric Quinney-Burnard officiating. A time of sharing memories and support will be from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Foundation, for the Irving Wallace Scholarship.
