Obituary

Lucille M. Schave Kallas, age 87, of Omro, died Monday evening, September 21, 2009, at Webster Manor surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 17, 1922, in the town of Rushford, the daughter of the late Albert and Lizzie (Coats) Hess. Lucille had attended and was educated in the Omro School System. She married Ralph Kallas on April 3, 1940. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1963. Together this union was blessed with five children. Lucille had many passions in life. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren. She was quick witted, genuine and always a lady. Her caring nature and ability to talk to people made her a natural caregiver of many family members throughout the years. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed canning the produce from her large garden, and also spent many hours crafting and sewing. Her family fondly recalls her passion for watching Jeopardy. Lucille knew many of the answers and could be easily annoyed when her family would call during the show. In addition to being a fabulous homemaker, Lucille had also worked at Ripon Foods, Miles Kimball and as a cook at Omro High School. She was a faithful member of St. Mary Church in Omro for many years.

Lucille is loved and will be missed by her children, Sharon (Joe) Erickson of Green Lake, Dawn (Sal) Caldrone of Lake Zurich, IL, Kathleen Schaele of Oshkosh and Kandace (Mark) Werner of Neenah; daughter in law, Dianne Kallas of Waukau; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, her son, Richard Kallas; brothers, Albert and Lawrence Hess; and her sister, Helen Hess.

In respect to Lucille's memory, the family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home in Omro, on Friday, September 25, 2009, from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the Memorial Service at 7:00 P.M. with Fr. Joseph Mattern officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.

The family would like to thank Webster Manor and Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Lucille and the rest of her family.
