Lula B. Chellow, age 96 died at Brewster Village Nursing Home on Monday, November 24, 2008. She was born in Antigo on November 18, 1912 to the late William and Erna (Leher) Strasser. Lula married Kurt Lange on May 6, 1931 in Oshkosh and they had three children. Kurt preceded her in death on December 10, 1953. On September 7, 1967 she married George Chellow in Oshkosh. George preceded her in death on August 2, 1989.
Lula was an active member of First English Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of a dance group that performed for many local nursing homes and churches. She enjoyed traveling to parts of Europe and Asia, sewing for her girls, playing cards, and had an extensive elephant collection. Lula loved her family very much and organized family reunions.
Lula is survived by her daughters: Lona (Albert) Eg of Little Chute, Sharon (Jerry) Ehlinger of Oshkosh, and Maris Lange Kemps of Appleton. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and her brother Roland Strasser of Oshkosh. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Kurt and George; and her siblings: Lawrence Strasser, William Strasser, Willis Strasser and Lillian Giese.
A funeral service for Lula will take place at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 28, 2008 at First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota Street, Oshkosh, with Pastor Robert Herder officiating.
