Obituary
Lydia P. Luft, age 97, of Oshkosh, peacefully finished God's work here on earth, September 6, 2009. Born on July 28, 1912, in Oshkosh, to John and Katherine (Lautenschlager) Pfaffenroth, Lydia married George Luft on June 30, 1938.
Lydia was employed at the Spudnut Shop in downtown Oshkosh as a waitress for several years. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She served as Secretary, Vice-President, and President of the Ladies Guild, taught Bible School, and sang in the church choir for over 60 years with her husband, George. Lydia's faith in the Lord was extraordinary. She also did volunteer work at Roosevelt Elementary School and enjoyed hosting many family gatherings, writing letters to family and friends, and sewing quilts for her children and grandchildren.
Left to share her passing are three children, David (Melva Davidson) Luft of Milton, Wisconsin, Karlton (Barbara Heim) Luft of Oshkosh, and Karen (Charles) Radloff of Edina, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Lorie (Kevin) Evers, Ken Murphy, Mark Luft, Scott (Andrea Thermos) Radloff, Gretchen Radloff, and Ruthanne (Justin) Mayer; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica, Amanda, and PFC Kyle Evers, Melissa Weeks, Tara Bowers, McKayla Luft, and Travis Luft; and a great-great-granddaughter, Morgan Penny Weeks; five sisters, Elenore Dahmer, Irene Ruhl, Catherine Irmer, Dorothy Stuhlmacher, and Mary Ann Glaze; and two brothers, Lawrence and Sam Pfaffenroth. Preceding Lydia in death are her husband, parents, three sisters, Margaret Daubert, Ruth Haffner, and Lorraine Pfaffenroth; three brothers, Albert, David, and John Pfaffenroth; and a granddaughter, Penny (Luft) Murphy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 338 North Eagle Street, with Pastor David Pagel officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Lydia will be laid to rest next to her dear husband, George, in Lake View Memorial Park.
