Lyle H. Coats, age 84, died peacefully surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born June 14, 1922, in the town of Rushford to the late William and Eunice (Cundy) Coats. He attended school in Omro until his father's untimely death, at which time he took over the responsibilities of the family farm. On January 30, 1943, he was united in marriage to Patricia May Quigley in Berlin, Wisconsin,
Lyle worked the family farm in the Town of Rushford until his retirement. Then moved to Wabeno where he enjoyed many outdoor activities. He also was a bartender in the Omro area for many years. Lyle enjoyed raising draft horses, competing in horse pulls and driving his team in many local parades. He also enjoyed deer hunting and was a long-time member of the family hunting camp on the Rat River in Wabeno, Wisconsin.
Lyle is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Patricia of Omro, three sons and two daughters: Lyle W. (Lynn) of Omro, Michael (Debbie) of Omro, Gary of Ripon, Carol (Peter) Stein of Butte des Morts, and Cindy (David) Houle of Omro and one daughter-in-law, Diane (Mike) Weitz of Oshkosh and one son-in-law, Paul Traxler of Omro. He is further survived by 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Alice,son Wayne, grandson Brad, two brothers, William and Charles and sister, June Lee.
Visitation for Lyle H. Coats will be held Friday evening, October 20, 2006 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Kwiatkowski Funeral Home, 425 Jefferson Ave. in Omro. A private burial service will take place on Saturday morning, October 21, 2006 at the Rushford Cemetery.
