Lyle E. Roe, age 94 of Oshkosh, died Saturday evening, February 24, 2007 at Bethel Home. He was born on September 6, 1912 in Oshkosh to John and Elizabeth (Van Bussum) Roe. Lyle married Lora Kluge on March 10, 1935 and she preceded him in death on February 23, 1986. He later married Evelyn Buck on June 20, 1987 and she preceded him in death on April 6, 1998.
Lyle was employed by the US Postal Service as a mail carrier and clerk for 32 years before retiring in 1969. He also worked for 10 years as a security guard for Mercury Marine, an auctioneer's clerk for 10 years, and as a Civil Service Examiner for the US Postal Service. Lyle was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, was known as an area artist, a member of National Postal Workers Union, a five year member of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, an officer of 28 years for the Oshkosh Auxiliary Police, Red Cross Volunteer at Mercy Medical Center, and was a member of Oshkosh Fine Arts Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon "Sherry" Redlin of Oshkosh; two granddaughters, Tracy Rera and Vicky Redlin; two great-granddaughters, Ashleigh and Shannon Rera; and a special & caring friend, Severa Gurath of Oshkosh. Preceding Lyle in death are his spouses, parents, and a brother, Clyde Roe.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in Bethel Home Chapel, 225 North Eagle Street, with Chaplain David Rumbold officiating. Interment will be in the Hortonville Union Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bethel Home Chapel. Memorials are requested to the Oshkosh Public Library Home Delivery Service in Lyle's memory.
