Mabel F. Wastel, age 76 of Oshkosh, passed away at Parkview Health Center on Friday, December 3, 2010. She was born to Fred and Laura (Cotter) Janke on January 2, 1934. She married and later divorced Joseph Ohlsson. She then married Richard Wastel who preceded her in death in 1975.
Mabel loved her children. She enjoyed playing cards. When her children were younger she could be found ice skating, or simply lying on the grass gazing at the stars with them. She loved to read, watch old movies, and animals, especially dogs. She worked as a nursing assistant at Oshkosh Care for many years.
Surviving Mabel are her children: Pam Ohlsson, Joseph Ohlsson Jr., Katherine Ohlsson, Janet Ohlsson, Jean Ohlsson, Robert Wastel, April (Dana) Laude, and Mark (Barbara) Wastel; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
A funeral service for Mabel will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. A time for visiting and sharing memories will be held at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 2:30 P.M. until the time of the service.
