Marcelitte D. Hood (nee Porter), age 101, a resident of Omro Care Center, passed away on June 12, 2009. She was born on July 19, 1907, in Avoca, a daughter of Otto and Amelia (Kraus) Porter. She married Chester Hood on June 26, 1926 in Rockford, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was employed as a ward clerk at the University Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin, retiring in 1973, and moving to their home on the Wisconsin River in Orion, rural Muscoda.
She is survived by a daughter, Christine (Ronald Robinson) Schave of Berlin; three grandchildren, Ryan (Valerie) Schave of Clinton Twp, Michigan; Beverly and Christopher Hood, both of Seattle, Washington; a daughter in law, Barbara Morris; one nephew, Mark (Cheryl) Austin; two nieces, Linda Austin and Jane Godager. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Brent, Richard and Guy (Dolores) Hood; a brother, Jerome Porter; two sisters, Adeline (Herbert) Helmenstine and Joyce (Gerald) Austin. Marcie was a kind, generous person. She will always be remembered for the many letters and cards sent to family and friends. Mom kept a daily diary and a yearly photo album which will be cherished. The family will hold a private visitation with burial at the Avoca Cemetery.
