Marcella Ann "Cel" Schmiedel, age 72, of Oshkosh, died Saturday, August 13, 2005. She was born in Oshkosh on October 18, 1932, the daughter of Leo and Bertha (Reischl) Polishinski. Cel married Robert Schmiedel on April 21, 1956. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage.
Cel enjoyed life and lived for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, a member of the Tierra Club, and a past volunteer at Sunset School.
Cel is survived by her husband: Robert Schmiedel of Oshkosh; daughter: Beth (Gary) Goldberg of Valencia, California; son: Gary (Tina) Schmiedel of Oshkosh; Grandchildren: Anna and Brian Goldberg of Valencia, California, and Sarah, Rebecca, and Jacob Schmiedel of Oshkosh. She is further survived by sisters: Jeanette Rice, Germaine (Mel) Hitchcock, Judy (Jerry) Faust, and Pat (Cliff) Neubauer; sisters-in-law: Marlene Polishinski, LouAnn Polishinski, and Betty (Dr. Tom) Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews. Her sister: Beatrice Polishinski and her brothers: Gilbert, Gerald, and Leon Polishinski preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 216 West South Park Avenue, Father William Van DeKreeke presiding. A time of visitation and support will be held at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 North Eagle Street, Monday, August 15, 2005, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial is being established in Cel's name for Breast Cancer Research. The family would like to thank the staff at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton.
