Margaret Fields Winter, 91, died on May 19, 2008 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 10, 1916 to Zebulon and Augusta Fields, the second of two children. On October 16, 1941 she married George R. Winter Jr. in El Paso, Texas. They were married for 64 years and raised three sons.
Margaret and George lived in the suburbs of Chicago for 40 years. In 1951, they purchased a summer home in Fond du Lac which they enjoyed with their sons and later, their grandchildren. When George retired, the two played golf and entertained their many visitors in Palm City, Florida. She will be remembered for her witty sense of humor, her dedication to her husband in good times and bad, and her unconditional love for her family.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, George, her son David, her son James, her parents, and her brother Omer Fields.
She is survived by her son, George (Mary Ann) of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, daughters-in-law: Cheryl Winter of Waterville, Ohio and Dian Winter of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Erin (Andy) Berry of Rosendale, Wisconsin, Allison (Bryan) Garner of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Dawn Winter of Overland Park, Kansas, Tim (Sarah) Winter of Hoffman Estates, Illinois and Mearte Winter of Waterville Ohio; and great grandchildren: Steven and Maggie Berry, Boden and Piper Garner, and Kayleigh Winter. She will be remembered dearly by many, including Robert and Carolyn Morse, Virginia Winter, Lois Johnson, Sharon Winter, Mimi Winter, Kris Loderhose and Lore Shaver.
A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday May 24, 2008 at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Family and friends will be received at the funeral chapel that day from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Please visit www.seefeldfuneral.com to offer condolences online.
