Marian Gumz passed away at Northpoint Medical and Rehabilitation on Thursday, June 25, 2009 with her family by her side. She was born in Redgranite on December 29, 1919. She was the youngest daughter of John and Anna (Ward) Kotkosky and grew up in Redgranite. On June 30, 1951, Marian married Harland R. Gumz. They had two daughters, Carol Ann and Pamela.
A member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Marian had belonged to the Catholic Women's Society of St. Mary. She also was an organist for St. Mark Parish in Redgranite and was choir director from 1934 to 1937. Marian attended Oshkosh Business College and after graduating, was employed at Oshkosh Truck for 14 years. She then became a full-time wife and mother. She was a member of AARP.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Harland; daughters, Carol Ann Gumz and Pamela (Thomas Zellner) Gumz; sisters-in-law: Joyce Hintze, Donna (Richard) Miller, Jeanne Kotkosky, Shirley Fetter, and Clara Gumz; and brother-in-law, Lowell Steinhilber. Preceding Marian in death were, her parents; sisters, Sister Alice Kotkosky and Dorothy Weber; brother, Gordon Kotkosky; Parents-in-law, Harvey and Ilya Gumz; and siblings-in-law: Phyllis Steinhilber, Eugene Hintze, Donald Gumz, Ray and Jane Czochock, and Reverand David Fetter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish - St. Peter Site, 435 High Avenue, Father James Jugenheimer officiating. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
