Marian Mailahn, age 87, of Oshkosh, died Sunday morning, September 12, 2004 at Bethel Home. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 6, 1917 to Charles and Caroline (Harding) Eichinger. Marian married James H. Mailahn on April 28, 1962 and he preceded her in death on February 5, 1976.
Marian moved with her family to Oshkosh when she was three years old. She graduated from Oshkosh High School and was a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder with a B.A. Degree in March of 1943. Marian was employed by Continental Airlines in the ticket sales department. As a young woman, Marian earned her pilot's license with instruction from her brother, Ray. Upon returning to Oshkosh, Marian became a partner in and worked at Oshkosh Filter and Softener Company and Oshkosh Heater Company, both family owned businesses. In the middle 1960's Marian became President of Oshkosh Filter and Softener Company.
Marian was a member of First Presbyterian Church; 50-year member of Eastern Star; member of Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem-Bethel Shrine #2; Women's Division of Oshkosh Manufacturing and Commerce; Twentieth Century Club; Winnebago Council of Campfire; Volunteer for American Cancer Society; Friends of United Cerebral Palsy; and a Docent at EAA and Paine Art Center.
Survivors include a sister-in-law: Evelyn Jones of Oceanside, California; a cousin: Jean Holtz of La Jolla, California; nieces and nephews: David Eichinger of Tustin, California; Sharon (Robert) Wertsch of Oshkosh; Lynn (James) Adams of Mill Valley, California; Charles (Mary) Eichinger of Oshkosh; Steven (Lisa) Eichinger of Oceanside, California; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding Marian in death are her husband; parents; two brothers: Erwin (Irene) Eichinger and Raymond Eichinger; and one niece: Diane Eichinger.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 11, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 110 Church Ave., with Reverend Thomas Willadsen officiating. Family and friends may call on Monday at the church from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
