Marie M. Schaefer Barton, age 98 of Ripon, died on Friday, December 16, 2005. She was born April 10, 1907 in Slinger, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late George and Anna (Schemenauer) Kress. She married Arthur Shaefer on May 2, 1925. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1971. She late married Harold Barton on May 25, 1976. He preceded her in death in August 1990.

Marie was Catholic by faith and considered St. John Catholic Church her parish. Her home and family were her life, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a strong willed, hard working farm lady.

Marie is survived by her son: Donald (Marion) Schaefer; daughters: Rosemary Horen, Helen (Ted) Schwochert, and Joan Kuepper; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and brother: George (Fern) Kress. She was preceded in death by her son: Robert; three grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services for Marie will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, December 19, 2005, at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Father William Van DeKreeke officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation and support at the funeral chapel from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Wautoma. A memorial is being established.
