Marie J. Smith, age 100, of Hazelhurst, Wisconsin, and formerly of Oshkosh, has passed on at Golden Living Center in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, on November 8, 2014. The former Marie Ditter was born on October 20, 1914, in St. Cloud, Wisconsin, to the late Joseph and Cecelia (Goeser) Ditter. Marie was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Oshkosh and Holy Family Church of Woodruff, Wisconsin.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly (Roy) Johnson of Franklin, Wisconsin, and Rosemarie (Allan) Berndt, of Hazelhurst, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Trish Johnson of Oak Creek, Sue (Russ) Block of New Berlin, Michael (Bonnie) Johnson of Berlin, Julie (Scott) Kons of Oshkosh, Lisa (friend-Jim Hanson) Berndt of Oshkosh; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Ditter of Dotyville, Wisconsin; and a special god-daughter, June (Dick) Miller of Plymouth, Wisconsin. Preceding Marie in death are her parents; husband, Warren; four brothers, Norbert, Clem, Bill, and Pete Ditter; and four sisters, Hilda O'Malley, Sister Alberta Ditter, Verene Conaboy, and Valeria Keifenheim.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in Lake View Memorial Park Chapel, 2786 Algoma Blvd. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held at the chapel from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
