Marion H. Balsley passed away at home on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. She was born in Oshkosh, the daughter of the late August and Lydia (Koepp) Frank on August 10, 1928. She married Wayne Balsley on October 23, 1948, in Oshkosh. Marion was a member of St. Andrew's Church. She enjoyed hosting family get togethers, loved doing her crafts (knitting & crocheting), playing cards with friends, gardening, bird watching, reading and collecting cookbooks and recipes, and the Packers. In earlier years Marion and Wayne traveled to Florida every winter and belonged to a camping club. Marion did volunteer work for Park View Health Center and St. Vincent De Paul's. She worked at Wisconsin Telephone Company and LaRose Upholstery, the business she and Wayne owned for 25 years. Marion was a very thoughtful and caring person, and always thought of others before herself.
Marion is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Wayne; three daughters: Susie (Glenn Bargender) Stein, Sandy (Carl) Dittloff and Sally (Lee) Poklasny; grandchildren: Steve Stein, Laura (Adam) Burrows, Samantha (Steve) Kaufman, Rachel (Chris Barter) Poklasny, and James Poklasny; three great-granddaughters: Megan, Casey, and Alyssa; and a nephew and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Edgar Zinth; and brothers: Harold and Carl Frank.
A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Seefeld Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Marion's name is being established.
The family would like to thank the neighbors that helped Marion, and Pastor Karen for her visits at the house, and also the Ascension Hospice Team of Molly and Joy. With their help, and the caregiving of her husband and family, Marion was able to stay at home. Her favorite quote was, "This too shall pass!" Marion is up now, walking around and enjoying biscuits and gravy in Heaven. She is finally free of all her pain.
