Marion (Hackbarth) Hartmann, age 90, of Oshkosh, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Evergreen Retirement Community. She was born on April 7, 1925, to Harvey and Martha Hackbarth.
She was joined in holy matrimony with David Hartmann on October 10, 1946, in Oshkosh. Marion spent her early years as a telephone operator. In later years, she got the job she loved most. She faithfully held this job for 31 years and often appeared as Santa Claus for the children at Christmastime. She loved children and was very kind to them.
Marion was a lover of bears and was overjoyed when she received one as a gift. When she became ill, they were a comfort to her. She was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Marion is survived by nieces, Mary (Ric Lee) Hackbarth of San Francisco, Penny Schwertfeger of Oshkosh, Dorothy (Don) Wirkes of Florida; nephews, Harry (Lorraine) Hartmann of Oshkosh and Michael Hackbarth of Oshkosh. She will be missed by great nieces and nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews. She remained active with her family until her illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave, and brother, Robert Hackbarth.
