Marjorie G. Steffes, age 89, of Oshkosh, died Monday morning, December 16, 2013, at Aurora Medical Center. Born on November 6, 1924, in Fond du Lac County, the daughter of Clyde E. and Martha G. (Arenz) Bellmer, Marjorie married Harvey N. Steffes on October 28, 1944 in North Fond du Lac. Harvey preceded Marjorie in death on March 23, 1967. Employed by various auto dealerships and the Paine Art Center as an accountant, Marjorie was known for having a very high degree of integrity in her business dealings.
Left to mourn her passing are four children: Nancy Blake of Urbana, Illinois; Peggy Steffes of Stevensville, Montana; Richard (Laurel) Steffes of Madison; and David (Lauri) Steffes of Omro; seven grandchildren: David Blake, Kasmir Carlson, Jillian Steffes, Myranda Lin, Victoria Steffes, Brienne Steffes, and Nicholas Steffes; and four great-grandchildren: Ryder Carlson, Max Carlson, Elijah Lin and Alexander Pennucci. Preceding Marjorie in death were her husband, parents, and three brothers, Kenneth, Elmore, and Howard Bellmer.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Seefeld Funeral Home, 1025 Oregon Street, in Oshkosh, and will be followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Marjorie will be laid to rest next to her husband, Harvey, at Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac. The family will host a memorial picnic in the spring in the Fond du Lac area.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Paine Art Center (1410 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh, WI 54901), a place Marjorie loved and was proud to share with friends and visitors. Marjorie will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.
